Mission of the Workforce Emergency Support fund is to support hospice workforce needs in the wake of an emergency event. Examples of support could include post-event funding for a hospice staff member’s childcare, shelter, groceries, etc., or assistance with purchasing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
WHO CAN APPLY?
- Alliance provider members
- Individual hospice, home care, and palliative care staff may apply for support through their organization
- Hospice, Home Care, and Palliative Care providers may apply for funds to support their hospice workforce
- Legacy-NHPCO Council of States members and Legacy-NAHC Forum of States members
- Given the urgent need for support, Non-Member providers may apply for funds until December 31, 2024
The Alliance may connect with state associations to assess the needs on the ground.
FUND AWARDS
Funds are distributed to the provider member.
- Alliance Members | Individual award – up to $1,000
- Alliance Members | Provider award – up to $5,000
- Non-Alliance Members | Individual award – up to $500 | Provider award – up to $3,000
Levels of award will be determined by the Alliance Emergency Response Team on a case-by-case basis.
*Please note that overall awards for multiple individual applicants within the same provider organization will be capped at $5,000 for their provider organizations for an emergency event. Individual applicants should work with their provider organization to determine the amount of funding specifically allocated to them.
APPLICATION REVIEW
Applications will be reviewed by Alliance within 2 business days.
FUNDING TIMELINE
Funds will be awarded within 3-5 days of the application approval date.
FOLLOW-UP WITH PROVIDER
Alliance will check in with the recipient that received a grant.
The provider is responsible for collecting receipts, completing the accounting report, and returning any unused funds within 60 days of using the grant.
The recipient will also provide any stories, photos, statements, and feedback as appropriate.
